At different stages of your writing and career and for different projects, you might be looking for specific types of editing. Sometimes you could use help getting your thoughts together to turn them into an article or book. At other times your needs might include more substantial interaction with an experienced academic editor to help crystallize the direction of your writing project or to ensure your thoughts are clear, your arguments consistent and substantiated, and it all reads smoothly. With 30+ years as a professor, I've learned to streamline techniques to fit the individual.
 

To provide you with the assistance you need, I offer the following editing services:

• Substantial/Developmental Editing: Basic editing plus helping develop the paper by reorganizing sentences and paragraphs if needed, ensuring your argument is consistent, logical, and flows, offering suggestions for rephrasing and recommendations to include or delete material or citations, ensuring smooth transitions, adding subheadings, etc.

• Basic Copyediting: Correcting errors in grammar, spelling, and sentence structure, eliminating repetition, checking for clarity and voice, etc.

• Coaching: Are you finding yourself having trouble getting over writer's block? We can work on strategies to help you work through that.

• Project Development: You have done research and are trying to figure out which of many directions to take it for your article or book project--and how to get to the point of making a decision. We can work on fine-tuning the possibilities and developing a theme that excites you.
